Welcome to India!!

Delhi, the city is acclaimed for being the cultural capital of India. The spectacular architecture of Delhi city is evident through its antique monuments. This city witnesses an interesting blend of diverse cultures (some even 5000 years old). Delhi has always had a mysterious eternity, the city having witnessed empires rise to glory and fall to ashes. The contemporary Delhi is a culmination of seven cities built by different emperors. Ruins of this ancient city are found even today and now converted to some major tourist attractions, which can be seen during city tours.

You will be well received on your arrival at Delhi International airport and transfer to hotel.
Arrive hotel and check into your room.
Dinner & Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Delhi
After breakfast at hotel, proceed for combined city tour of Old & New Delhi.

The city of Delhi can broadly be divided into two parts, Old Delhi and New Delhi.
Old Delhi was the capital of Delhi’s Muslim rulers notably the Mughals between 17th & 19th centuries. New Delhi on the other hand is referred to as the IMPERIAL city when the British decided to move their capital from Calcutta in 1911.

The sightseeing of Old Delhi includes a visit to Jama Masjid which is India's largest mosque, built of red sandstone and white marble in the middle of the 17th century. Red Fort, a 17th century fort complex constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the walled city of Old Delhi. Rajghat, cremation site of father of Nation- Mahatma Gandhi) and rickshaw ride through the streets of Chandni Chowk (Silver Street), once the imperial avenue down which Shah Jehan rode at the head of lavish cavalcades, is today bustling with shops, stalls and silversmiths' ateliers.

Lunch at local restaurant (on direct payment).

Sightseeing of New Delhi includes a visit to India Gate, built in memory of Indian soldiers killed during the First World War. Drive pass Rashtrapati Bhawan, built in the early 20th century as the Imperial residence of the Viceroy is today the official residence of the President of India and Parliament House, an unique circular building with huge colonnades, houses the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament. Humayun's Tomb is the first Mughal garden tomb. Visitors are immediately struck by the tomb's resemblance to its more famous cousin - the Taj Mahal - with its four grand gateways, octagonal base-plan, soaring niche-shaped arches, lofty double domes and the symmetrical garden with its central canal. And finally Qutab Minar, one of Delhi’s most striking monuments, which is the world's tallest brick minaret with a height of 72.5 meters.
Dinner & Overnight at hotel.

Agra is the city of Taj Mahal and one of the famed cities of India. Once the capital of the Mughal Empire, Agra houses one of world's most spectacular monuments - Taj Mahal. The history of Agra is much older than the times of Mughals. The Mughal rule had transformed the city into one of the great centers of art, culture, learning and commerce. Magnificent monuments in majestic work of art and architecture are still flourishing with arts and crafts including leather work and pietra dura marble-inlay work.

After breakfast at hotel, drive towards Jaipur.
On the way, visit Fatehpur Sikri (40kms from Agra) & Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (17kms from Fatehpur Sikri).

Fatehpur Sikri, was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. He is also reputed to be a very tolerant ruler, and the buildings at Fatehpur Sikri blended both Islamic and Hindu elements in their architectural style. One of the buildings even reflects the new syncretistic faith founded by Akbar, Din-e-ilahi, which though very short-lived remains a matter of controversy.
Continue drive towards Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
The Keoladeo Ghana National Park or Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan is a famous avifauna sanctuary that sees (or saw) thousands of rare and highly endangered birds such as the Siberian Crane come here during the winter season. Over 230 species of birds are known to have made the National Park their home. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a declared World Heritage Site. Visit the sanctuary in rickshaws (2 persons per rickshaw).
Lunch at local restaurant (on direct payment).

Jaipur was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693-1743) and is the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur is surrounded by hills and dotted with forts. Houses with pink latticed windows line the streets, and look almost magical at sunset. Jaipur’s regal heritage is evident in its architecture and culture. Beautifully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvelous heritage hotels, once the residence of Maharajas are testaments to the Rajasthan of yesteryears. The arts and crafts of the state are amazing. The bazaars are a lot of fun for not just what are available, but also for the cheerful people in their traditional costumes.

The important buildings within the Palace are textile and the costume museum, armory museum, Diwan-I-Khas and Diwan-I-am. Jantar Mantar is the largest stone observatory in the World and one of the five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur.
While return back to hotel, stop on the way for photo opportunities at the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of the Winds, possibly Jaipur’s most famous building it was built for the ladies of the harem.

After breakfast at hotel, drive to Delhi.

Lunch on the way at local restaurant (on direct payment).

Arrive Delhi and transfer to Delhi airport to board flight to Cochin.

Nestling between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, Kerala is an enchanting mosaic of coconut groves and paddy fields, beaches, backwaters and verdant hills. Cochin, Kerala’s main trading center for spices and sea food is also Kerala’s most cosmopolitan city. According to legend, Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu, created Kerala by throwing his battle-axe into the sea. The abundance of canals, lagoons and lakes in the state seem to reinforce this legend of a land born from the sea. Undoubtedly the commercial hub of Kerala, the city of Cochin is where ancient civilization gracefully mingles with modern life. Right from the early years, Cochin has had cultural and trade relations with the outside world. She had also experienced pulsating episodes of European colonial rivalry. Today with a natural, all-weather harbor and replete with serene backwaters, beautiful lagoons, wooded isles, and a magnificent seascape, Cochin is indeed the Queen of the Arabian Sea.
You will be well received on your arrival at the Cochin airport and transfer to hotel.
Arrive Hotel and check- into your room.
Dinner & Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Cochin

Dinner & Overnight in the hotel.

Day 08: Cochin/ Munnar (140Kms & 4hrs drive)
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Munnar.

As you go up slowly through the narrow winding roads, you will see all the shades of green that God created. From the lush carpets of the tea bushes to the silver green of the oak it is all there on the mountains of Munnar. The marvelous hill resort of Munnar lays at the confluence of three mountain streams namely Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala, Since the British rule Munnar has been thronged by tourists. The lovely landscape, the teagardens and the pleasant weather make it a picture perfect destination. The hill resort is situated at an altitude of 1520meters, in the eastern part of Kerala. The Western Ghats of Kerala stand close to Munnar. The highest peak of Anaimudi is quiet close to the hill resort. The hills neighbouring Munnar present a spectacular sight only once in every twelve years. The Neelakurunji plant grows on the hills and bloom to cover the entire mountain range.
Arrive Munnar and check into your hotel.
Lunch at Hotel/ local restaurant (on direct payment).

In the afternoon, proceed to visit the tea plantations.
The Tea estates here look like manicured landscaped gardens, sprawling endlessly over hills and valleys. The Cardamom Hills, rising to heights of over 8,000ft above sea-level, are in themselves very beautiful but the tea plantations make them breathtakingly scenic. From a height, the tea bushes, pruned to a uniform height, seem like a well-maintained, elaborately designed lawn with criss-crossing lines. The lines, of course, are the narrow corridors between the bushes to allow access to the pluckers. They could be concentric circles on a hill, sequential parallelogram at another or just straight parallel lines in a third. It’s the lines, in fact, and their alignment that makes the panorama so picturesque: hill after rolling hill carpeted in shades of green, each carpet uniquely designed.
Dinner & Overnight in the hotel.

Day 09: Munnar
After Breakfast at hotel, proceed for tour around Munnar, visiting Tea Museum- which showcases production of tea and some of its finest methods of production. Photographs of tea plantations and the curios and machineries used in tea production have been put on display. Echo Point, This scenic place gets its name from the natural echo phenomenon here. The Mattupeety Lake- one of the major tourist attractions around Munnar. The Lake at a distance of 13Kms from Munnar, was created by a small hydroelectricity dam is flanked by steep hills and woods all around. You can enjoy the Boat ride here (on direct payment).

Although it is unusual to see many animals from the boats, still you spot a family of Elephants, Wild Boar and Sambar Deer by the water's edge. The upper deck is best for wildlife viewing when taking a boat cruise, but better turn up half an hour early to get the best seat. To maximize you chances.
Dinner & Overnight at hotel in Periyar.

Day 11: Periyar/ Alleppey (120Kms & 4hrs drive)/ Houseboat
After Breakfast at hotel, proceed to visit the plantation.
The spice plantation in Thekkady is a prime attraction of this beautiful land. Though sprawling tea estates cover much of the landscape of Thekkady, plantations of cardamom, rubber, vanilla and coffee are also aplenty. Walk amidst the green, terraced farms, while you hear the murmuring sound of the rippling stream and breathe in the fragrant air while exploring the spice plantation in Thekkady.
Later, drive to Alleppey.
Arrive Alleppey and climb aboard the traditional RICE BOAT (kettuvallam) converted into houseboats with bedrooms and attached toilets. Originally these boats were used as ferries to carry rice. Cruise through the backwaters of Kerala. This fascinating "backwaters" in traditional houseboats takes you through narrow canals, past paddy fields and villages, allowing you to enjoy the silence of the backwaters and have a glimpse of the lifestyle of the people living along the canals.

Among these, the southernmost beach, named Lighthouse Beach, is the most frequented beach in Kovalam. Earlier this beach of Kovalam was an anglers' paradise. It still has some small villages, just a few kilometres away, which belong to the fishing community. Gradually, this beach of Kovalam has been transformed to a tourist spot of great interest. Kanyakumari,is a small but exceptionally beautiful town, located on the confluence of three oceans - the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal. Kanyakumari is referred as the southernmost tip of the Indian subcontinent. The name of Kanyakumari is derived from two Hindi words 'Kanya' and 'Kumari' which translates into the 'virgin girl'. It's because that the place is named after the beautiful princess Kanya Devi, one of the many forms of goddess Parvathi, the consort of Lord Shiva. For its association with the goddess, Kanyakumari is regarded as one of the most sacred pilgrimage centers for the Hindus. The town houses several beautiful temples including the one dedicated to Goddess Parvathi.
